Emily BrowningEmily Jane Browning (born 7 December 1988) is an Australian film actress, singer, and model. After early roles in Ghost Ship (2002) and Ned Kelly (2003), she won the 2005 AFI International Award for Best Actress for her breakthrough role as Violet Baudelaire in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004). She has starred in the horror film The Uninvited (2009), the action film Sucker Punch (2011), and the independent film Sleeping Beauty (2011).
Her debut acting role was in the 1998 Hallmark Channel movie The Echo of Thunder. Additional roles in Australian film and television productions soon followed, including recurring roles in the television series Blue Heelers from 2000 to 2002, and Something in the Air from 2000 to 2001.

 




1. ‘SAILOR MOON’ WAS MY FAVORITE CARTOON OF ALL TIME, AND I’M STILL KIND OF OBSESSED WITH IT. I OWN ALL THE DVDS TO WATCH IT AT HOME.

3. FOR ME IT WOULD BE UNHEALTHY TO BE A METHOD ACTOR; I’M NOT MENTALLY STABLE ENOUGH FOR THAT – I NEED TO SEPARATE MY TWO WORLDS.

4. I PREFER TO MAKE A FILM THAT PEOPLE HAVE A REALLY INTENSE REACTION TO THAN HAVE A FILM THAT PEOPLE FEEL AMBIVALENT ABOUT.

5. I WAS LUCKY – THE FIRST EIGHT PRODUCTIONS I AUDITIONED FOR, I GOT CAST.

6. IT IS FRUSTRATING WHEN IN AN INTERVIEW PEOPLE SAY: ‘GIVE US YOUR MAKE-UP TIPS’ AND ‘HOW DO YOU STAY SKINNY?’ I THINK: ‘DO YOU ASK A GUY THAT?’

7. WHEN YOU ACT, YOU REALLY HAVE TO GIVE ALL OF YOURSELF, AND IF YOU’RE DOING THAT PURELY FOR MONEY, IT’S NOT HEALTHY.

8. I’D RATHER MAKE AN INTERESTING FILM THAT GETS PEOPLE TALKING, THAT MAYBE SOME PEOPLE HATE, THAN MAKE THE KIND OF ‘ENTERTAINING’ FILM THAT EVERYONE FEELS AMBIVALENT ABOUT.

9. I NEED TO PUSH MYSELF. I’M NOT SAYING THAT I JUST WANT TO DO ANYTHING THAT’S SHOCKING, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THAT COMBINATION OF A SCRIPT THAT’S REALLY BEAUTIFUL AND EXTREMELY SHOCKING, IT’S EXCITING FOR ME.

10. OFTEN, PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE INTERESTING FILMS SIMPLY DON’T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT.

11. I’M INTO VIDEO GAMES, BUT ONLY REAL SPECIFIC LAME VIDEO GAMES.

12. I USUALLY HATE GOING AROUND AND DOING PRESS. IT SORT OF STRESSES ME OUT.

13. I HAVE TO JUST WORRY ABOUT MY OWN OPINION AND THE OPINIONS OF THE PEOPLE I’M WORKING WITH AND PEOPLE WHO ARE CLOSE TO ME.

24. I KNOW A LOT OF PARENTS OF KID ACTORS I’VE WORKED WITH HAVE PRESSURED THEM INTO ACTING, BUT MY PARENTS ARE DIFFERENT. I’M REALLY LUCKY TO HAVE THEM BECAUSE THEY LET ME MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS.

25. I’VE ACTUALLY GOT TURNED DOWN FOR A LOT OF ROLES BECAUSE I’M NOT BUBBLY ENOUGH. PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME TO BE MORE ‘UP’, BUT I CAN’T, REALLY. I FIND IT HARD TO BE SMILEY AND GIGGLY ALL THE TIME.
